When one door closes another door opens looks to be the theme this coming week in Port Charles. The moment Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) friends and family have been dreading is finally here.

Maxie (Kirsten Storms) helped arrange a beautiful funeral service for Sam, complete with flowers that reminded her of the yellow dress Sam wore earlier this year at Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Josh Swickard) wedding.

After Maxie has some private words with Sam’s portrait, the funeral begins but it is not without fireworks. When Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) sees his Uncle Lucas (Van Hansis) arrive, he can’t contain his pain and fury. He blames Lucas for his mother’s death in the same way that Lucas blames himself for Sam’s death.

“You’re the one who let my mother die,” Danny cries at a despondent Lucas. Will Danny ever learn to forgive his uncle and can his uncle learn to forgive himself?

When the service gets underway, Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) surround their devastated mother with love as Sam’s men, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Drew (Cameron Mathison), and Jason (Steve Burton), rally around her children. Scout is only a little girl and doesn’t understand what happened to her mom.

As Port Charles gathers in church for Sam’s final farewell, the woman she sacrificed her life for remains in a bed at General Hospital, lingering in a coma for the last four years.

Last week, Laura (Genie Francis) begged Lulu (Alexa Havins) to wake, so that Sam’s sacrifice wouldn’t be in vain, but she had been begging Lulu to wake since 2020.

The idea that Lulu could open her eyes while everyone is at church trying to understand how they could be burying a young, healthy woman like Sam is foreign to Laura.

However, it looks like that is exactly what happens. After all this time, Lesley Lu Spencer is ready to re-enter life. What lies ahead will be an emotional journey as Lulu learns to navigate a new life after missing the last four years.
