Dex & 3 More Lost Potential Characters On General Hospital
While some General Hospital characters have become legends in Port Charles, others slipped away without getting a chance to live out their full potential.
Dex
The latest to join this group of lost potential characters is Dex (ex-Evan Hofer), who just became GH’s second mysterious death recently after already surviving a stab wound. Port Charles has yet to react to the rookie cop’s unexpected death, with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Anna (Finola Hughes) being the first to find out.
Since showing up in Port Charles in 2022 and becoming a mini Jason (Steve Burton) while working for Sonny (Maurice Benard), Dex was thrown one curve ball after another. From getting hung from a meat hook to secretly working for Michael (Chad Duell) to joining to the PCPD, Dex’s present still wasn’t as bad as his past. Dex often confided in Joss about his upbringing with abusive brothers, but the mystery of who his parents and brothers are may never be found out now that he’s gone.
Trey
Another sweet, young man gone too soon was Trey (ex-Erik Valdez). Trey came to town as Kristina’s boyfriend in 2012 and got the shock of his life when he learned that his birth mother was right there in Port Charles: Connie (ex-Kelly Sullivan).
Despite marrying Kristina and reuniting with his mother, in a cruel twist of fate, Trey was only in Port Charles for six months before he wound up in a car accident that left him brain dead. With all his mob connections, from his relationship with Kristina to being the son of Joe Scully Jr. (ex-Richard Steinmetz), Trey had what it took to be Port Charles’ next mob king, if he was given the chance.
Rafe
When GH began bringing back characters and storylines from its late 90s spin-off Port Charles, they introduced Rafe (ex-Jimmy Deshler), the son of Alison (ex-Erin Hershey Presley) and Stephen/Caleb (ex-Michael Easton). Despite having a vampire for a father, Rafe was said to be an angel, and entered into a teenage romance with Molly, coming between her and TJ.
Despite his family’s mystical history in Port Charles and his undeniable chemistry with Molly, Rafe’s story was cut short when the character wound up in a car crash with Molly after previously being ordered by Victor (ex-Thaao Penghlis) to run Patrick (ex-Jason Thompson) and his family off the road. Much like Trey, Rafe was declared brain dead after undergoing fire brain surgery.
Dev
It felt like a breath of fresh air when Port Charles’ teen group was graced with the presence of Dev (ex-Ashton Arbab), Sonny’s pseudo cousin. The illegal, teenage grifter was instantly beloved by many, prompting Brando (the late Johnny Wactor) to adopt him and Joss, Trina, and Cameron (ex-William Lipton) to welcome him into their friend group.
Between the lies of his paternity to his secret feelings for Joss, Dev’s life in Port Charles would have been a wild and bumpy ride… had he not been senselessly killed in The Floating Rib explosion of 2020. While Sonny tried saving his “cousin,” he abruptly succumbed to his injuries while in the ambulance and was never seen again.
Which is of these characters do you wish had a second chance in Port Charles? Let us know in the comments.
