Nathanael Richard, who once starred on Sister Wives, has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault, according to court records. The Brown family visited him during a 2014 episode.
Sister Wives star Nathanael has been arrested on domestic violence charges in Springfield, Missouri. He starred on the TLC show during season 7, and lives a polygamous lifestyle like the Brown family.
Nathanael Richard arrested for assault
Nathanael Richard faces allegations of third-degree domestic assault, according to court records. Reports also indicate personal struggles, including separations from his two wives in the years after Sister Wives.
He was arrested in Springfield on December 10, 2024. In 2022, the 43-year-old reportedly split from his two wives, Rebecca Richard, 41, and Christina Buning, 42, and has legally divorced his first partner.
They had been married for over 20 years before pulling the plug on their marriage. According to court records obtained by The U.S. Sun, Rebecca noted they separated “from the marital bed” in August 2021.
He made friends with the Brown family
During Sister Wives season 7, the Brown family visited Nathanael and his wives in Missouri, a Christian polygamist family whose faith isn’t rooted in Mormon principles, which is “Kody Brown‘s dream”.
The then-33-year-old said how his wife baked for him and complained while she was baking that she wasn’t available to cuddle, admitting he and the wives eat their first mouthful of food at the same time.
The Richards have nine children, who are all from wife number one. Meri Brown said she feels for wife two who suffers from infertility issues, while both women admitted they struggle with questioning God.
They said they didn’t use the term “sister wife” as they prefer the term “BFF.” Kody liked the Richards family so much that he ended up inviting them over to hang at their RV park.
Kody Brown, the patriarch of the Brown family, has finally broken his silence about the arrest. In a recent interview, he addressed the situation, expressing both concern and disbelief. “This is something I never expected to happen, especially not with someone so close to our family,” Kody said, visibly shaken. “We are still processing everything, and we hope the truth comes out soon. Nathanael is a part of our lives, and this situation has been difficult for all of us.”
While Kody refrained from diving into specifics, he confirmed that the Brown family is fully supporting Nathanael through the legal proceedings.
Fans are left anxiously awaiting more updates as the legal drama unfolds, with many speculating about the long-term impact this incident could have on the Brown family’s public image and future on Sister Wives.
