Bombshell News!!Nancy Lee Grahn’s Message to GH Fans About Sam’s Death
Fans were naturally heartbroken when Sam died suddenly on General Hospital as Kelly Monaco wrapped up her lengthy run on the soap.
But that episode was just the beginning of the tears as everyone in Port Charles grieves the tremendous loss. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) took to Twitter/X to share a personal message with those fans.
“As hard as it may be for GH viewers to watch today’s episode and the episodes to follow, it was equally as hard for me and my castmates to play,” she confided.
“Playing Kelly Monaco’s mom has been effortless and the love is real.”
Among the countless replies to Grahn’s post was one from a fan who said she had to change the channel because it affected her so strongly due to personal reasons.
“Understand. I’m so sorry,” the actress responded before suggesting she take a little break from the soap. “Don’t watch. Just watch happy shows.”
Following her Daytime Emmy-winning 1985-93 run as Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara, Grahn joined the cast of GH in 1996 and added another Emmy to her shelf playing attorney Alexis Davis.
And after the cancelation of GH spinoff Port Charles, where she played Livvie Locke, Monaco joined the mothership in 2003 in the newly created role of Sam McCall.
Sam and Alexis were often at odds, so it was extra dramatic when after a few years, Alexis went in search of the daughter she’d given up for adoption as a teenager and found out Sam was that child! Eventually, the two ironed out their differences and along with Alexis’ other daughters, Kristina and Molly, formed the fan-favorite Davis Girls.
So make sure you have extra tissues handy for the next episodes of GH as Sam’s death impacts everyone around her.
