Cameron Mathison Warns: “Do Not Donate To a GoFundMe” In His Name
Thousands of people have lost their homes in the wildfires currently devastating the Los Angeles area, and General Hospital star Cameron Mathison (Drew) was one of the first soap stars to share his loss publicly.
After sharing a heartbreaking video of what remains of his family home, the actor opened up further about the loss and how they’re dealing with it.
However, another day later, Mathison went back on social media to share a message with fans warning them to be careful.
“Thank you so much everybody for the love and support that you’ve shown us and others right now,” the actor said in an Instagram video. “
Please do not donate to a GoFundMe page using my images my face my name… we are not asking for money. Somebody is using the images and the videos that I posted to try to get money for themself.
It is not us. Please do not do that. I appreciate your support but be careful who you donate to out there, okay? Thank you so much, everybody.”
In the middle of all this tragedy and loss, it’s unfathomable that someone could do something like this to try and scam money by taking advantage of generous and giving people.
Especially when there are plenty of legitimate places for people to donate if they would like to help in some way.
Those wishing to help people affected by the Southern California wildfires can donate to The California Fire Foundation, the American Red Cross, or the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
Organizations like The Salvation Army and the California Community Foundation are also accepting donations online. And these are just some of the places looking for assistance as they try to offer aid and resources to people in need.
