In last night’s new episode of Sister Wives, Janelle Brown warned Meri about a very serious financial situation. Although the conversation was incredibly awkward for both the women and viewers alike, it prompted Janelle to reach an important conclusion.
Kody Brown has been telling the extended family that Janelle has a handle on the family money, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. As she notes in the episode, she’s simply the family bookkeeper.
Janelle Brown Realizes Kody’s Been Lying About Her
One of the big plot points for Season 19 is the Coyote Pass deadline. The family knows they have a deadline coming up and must pay off the entire property. However, Kody Brown keeps throwing a wrench into the situation.
Janelle Brown is the fiscally responsible family member and knows they’re all facing a dire situation. And it’s becoming increasingly complicated amid the triple divorce. That’s precisely why she reached out to Meri, despite their strained relationship.
“If we don’t make [the payment], he can repossess the whole thing,” Janelle warned her former sister wife. “We will lose it.”
However, Meri shrugs it off and says she’s not worried about it. Her nonchalant response makes Janelle realize Kody hasn’t been fully truthful with the other women.
“I am beginning to realize that Kody has been telling everybody that I am somehow controlling the [family’s] money,” Janelle realized during her confessional. “And trust me, if I really was, we would be in a very different position.”
Meri Isn’t Sure Who To Trust
Sadly, Meri doesn’t seem interested in heeding Janelle’s warning. She earnestly wants to believe the best of Kody and Robyn and doesn’t want to be on anyone’s side. Fans can see she’s conflicted and unsure of who to trust.
“I feel like everybody in the family has a different opinion about the other person, about what has been happening with the finances,” Meri admitted in a confessional. “And I don’t know which of it is true. … I’m not going to be in the ex-wives club. I’m not in the Kody and Robyn club.”
However, Meri’s unwillingness to act might come back to bite her in the end. Fans know she’s happy with her friends in Utah, but they’re interested to see how this storyline plays out on screen. On the other hand, Janelle Brown admitted she was going to lawyer up.
