MINUTES AGO: Rebecca Budig is heartbroken and shares a shocking message following the death of her beloved father.
Please join us in sending love to soap star Rebecca Budig, who lost her father, George J. Budig, on Dec. 16. She announced the sad news with a simple Instagram post of a photo of George with the caption: “I love you, Dad. 10/1/36-12/16/24.”
According to his obituary, George passed away peacefully at his home in Ft. Mitchell, KY, surrounded by his family. After serving in the Marine Corps, he served as Assistant Dean of Students at Georgia Tech University before joining the family business, Budig Trucking and the George E.
Fern Company. He also generously donated to non-profits and worthy causes to help his community, and loved the outdoors, particularly watching his cows graze on his farm.
Budig, who currently stars as Taylor on The Bold & The Beautiful and previously played Guiding Light’s Michelle, All My Children’s Greenlee, and General Hospital’s Hayden, shared a beautiful tribute to her pop on Father’s Day 2018. “To this day, a man I can always count on,” she wrote. “For advice, guidance, a laugh, encouragement, and love.
Naturally, Budig’s post quickly filled with comments of love and sympathy from fans and friends, including her co-stars from B&B, GH, and AMC. “I love you so much, peanut,” expressed Cameron Mathison (Drew, GH, Ryan, AMC). “I’m so sorry for your loss and thinking about you and the whole family this holiday season.”
Michael Easton (ex-Finn, GH) wrote: “All of our hearts are with you.” And their TV daughter, Jophielle Love (ex-Violet, GH) commented with a series of heart emojis adding, “I wish I was there to give you a big hug.”
“Same day as my dad,” noted Brandon Barash (ex-Stefan, Days of Our Lives; ex-Johnny, GH). “It’s a s****y club to be a part of. Send love.” B&B’s Romy Park (Poppy) shared: “My heart and thoughts are with you. Your daddy is an angel watching over you now.”
Our thoughts are with Budig and her entire family during this difficult time.
