There is a new Emma in town on General Hospital — and Braedyn Bruner has the blessing of her predecessor, Brooklyn Rae Silzer, to take over the role.
On Dec. 23, the same day that the Bruner made her debut in the role, Silzer took to Twitter/X to share a very special message with the fans who have followed her as she’s played the legacy character on and off for the past 13 years. “A little note to my GH family and fans who have loved me over the years,” she prefaced her post, sharing an image of a pre-typed message. “Love B.”
The note began, “To my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma, I am forever grateful. Although I am sad my time as Emma has come to an end, I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made. I am so lucky to have been cast as Emma 13 years ago and to have had the opportunity to grow her character over the years.”
Silzer was just five years old when she joined the cast of GH in July 2011 in the legacy role of Emma Scorpio Drake, the daughter of Kimberly McCullough’s Robin and Jason Thompson’s Patrick.
She received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in 2016 — the same year that the family was written off the show. In the storyline, Robin and Patrick had reconciled and remarried after years apart (during which time she was presumed dead), and the family relocated to Berkeley, CA, where the reunited couple went on to have a second child.
Even after Emma moved away from Port Charles, Silzer would periodically appear as her character visited her grandmother, Finola Hughes’ Anna.
Her last appearance was in late 2023. Then a high school senior, Silzer revealed that she was looking forward to her high school graduation and was planning on applying to nursing school.
With her life taking a new direction, Silzer passed the baton to Bruner, wishing her well in the role. “I am so excited to see how Braedyn takes care of Emma and brings new layers to her character,” she wrote.
Concluding her post, Silzer shared her gratitude for the years she spent in Port Charles and the memories she made. “I am forever thankful for General Hospital and Emma will always hold a special place in my heart.”
