Update Shocking: Janelle Brown Worries She Can’t Trust Kody and Robyn With Coyote Pass Property

Sister Wives star Janelle Brown isn’t sure the family’s Coyote Pass property is in the best hands with her ex-husband Kody Brown and his wife Robyn Brown at the reins. The property needs to be paid off in the upcoming months, but Meri Brown and Janelle have differing views on what the future holds.

“I don’t think there’s any need for protection,” Meri, 53, said in a teaser clip for the Sunday, November 10, episode shared by TLC’s Instagram. “Don’t you think that we have each other’s backs as far as that goes?”

Meri continued in a confessional, “Would Kody and Robyn really go into this thinking, ‘Maybe we should get the property?’ I don’t think that they’re going to screw us over.”

However, Janelle, 55, disagreed.

“I don’t necessarily believe that,” she told Meri.

In an extended version of the clip shared by People on November 8, Janelle also gave Meri advice on what to do regarding her share of the property.

“I’m going to suggest to you that you protect your interest in it as far as what you’re entitled to — a quarter of it,” Janelle explained. “I will watch out for you, but I just want to make sure, Meri — this is really your entire estate. I’m just telling you that you should be aware of what’s going on. I would just make sure that what you’re getting is fair.”

She continued to express her worry about Meri during a confessional and said that even though the mom of one was “technically entitled to a quarter of the value of the property,” Janelle was concerned that might not happen.

“Her name is only on one piece and it’s in conjunction with Kody and I, so if worse comes to worst and it’s sold, she probably won’t get a quarter.”

Meri also explained the original plan for Coyote Pass. When Kody, 55, was still married to Janelle, Meri, Robyn, 46, and Christine Brown, the family bought a large piece of property that Kody initially wanted to build a large house on so everyone could live together. However, the wives quickly put that idea to rest.

It was then agreed that each of the women would get their own house for themselves and their children.

The family purchased the property in 2018 for $820,000, but several reasons have kept any of the Browns from actually breaking ground on the property, including disagreements on how the polygamous family would handle the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Relationships between some of the family members became particularly tense when it was discovered that Robyn and Kody had been allowing a nanny to come over and help with the kids.

Then came the crumbling of three of Kody’s four marriages which led to more delays regarding Coyote Pass. Following Christine’s split from Kody in November 2021, she sold her share of the property to him and Robyn for $10 in July 2022.

Janelle followed her lead a year later and she and Kody paid off her share of Coyote Pass for $340,000, according to the Deed of Release and Full Reconveyance viewed by In Touch at the time.
